Drywall access panel for shower plumbing – what to get?
Doing a bathroom remodel and need an access panel behind the shower for the mixing valve and pipes. It’ll be tiled over, so needs to be waterproof or at least moisture-resistant. Any tried-and-true options available online? Don’t want leaks later.

Even for tiled showers, most folks use standard ABS plastic panels and then tile right over a separate tileable door or bezel, but if you want simple, these plastic ones hold up well in damp areas as long as they're sealed properly at the edges. I bought these drywall access panels for my bathroom job last year. Used silicone around the frame, no moisture issues at all. Sturdy enough, easy to cut in. Comes in useful sizes. Worked perfectly for plumbing access.
