Is it worth repairing or replacing your car’s air conditioner system?

So my car’s A/C has been acting up lately — first it started blowing air that wasn’t really cold, and then it began making this faint clicking sound every time I turned it on. I figured it was just low refrigerant, but after refilling it, nothing really changed. A friend told me it could be the compressor going bad, which apparently isn’t cheap to fix. Now I’m torn between trying to repair it or just replacing the whole system if it’s too far gone. Has anyone gone through something similar? I’m wondering if it’s worth the cost or better to start fresh.

I’ve actually dealt with that before, and I totally get what you’re saying. My A/C started out with weak cooling too, then over time, I noticed this strange Engine noise every time I hit the A/C switch — turned out the compressor clutch was shot. I checked out a site that offers car repair and service in Bristol PA, and they explained how sometimes replacing just the bad parts like the compressor or condenser can save you money instead of swapping the whole system. I decided to go for a repair rather than a full replacement, and it’s been working perfectly since then. If your system’s not totally ruined, repairing might be the smarter move.
