Tony Karadzhov

Tony was born and raised in the Eastern European country of Bulgaria, and since arriving in Minnesota in 2006, has provided extraordinary dance instruction in the Ballroom and Latin dances that comprise the International DanceSport Federation Program (Samba, Cha-Cha, Rhumba, Paso Doble, Jive, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep). Being a former 10 Dance Champion of Bulgaria and having a four-year-degree in DanceSport Training from the National Sports Academy of Bulgaria, Tony possesses a rare combination of expertise and experience in International DanceSport.

His teaching ability for both children and adults is exceptional, and he uses a variety of teaching styles to bring out the best in all of his students. Tony offers a unique set of qualities as a coach. He has a true passion for dance, a strong technique-based DanceSport education, amazing integrity, a drive to continuously improve himself as an instructor and dancer, and a caring personality.

Training children to be talented ballroom dancers is one of Tony’s specialties. He feels that it is extremely important to start instruction at the earliest possible age in order to get the best results when the children get older. Just like any other sport, it is necessary to build muscle memory, discipline, and learn how to work in a partnership and as a team. At the same time, he feels it is important for the children to be in a safe environment, where they can build confidence, coordination, and an understanding for a variety of different musical rhythms and timings. His children’s group classes are a great way for kids to be introduced to the sport of ballroom dance.
